Default Craftsy to Become a Subscription Service in 2018

I received a newsletter today which included an item about Craftsy, and thought some of you might be interested. Scroll down towards the bottom. I didn't realize that Craftsy had been bought by Comcast, which is probably why they're switching from an ala carte menu.

Comcast isn't cheap (at least my cable bill isn't).

Mine either. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

Sad to see it was bought by Comcast. DH and I didn't buy a house we both liked because the service was Comcast, no other option. I read something about the subscription of Craftsy. Seems many are mad because the classes they bought will be available to everyone that is a subscriber. Pay the subscription fee and see every class whenever you want.

The news release says that a la carte classes will still be available as well as a subscription and that previously purchased classes will be available always. So really, the only difference sounds like you will now be able to by a subscription to the entire site instead of just one class at a time.
They also mention other sites that offer subscriptions at $4.95/month and that Comcast has studied the marketplace to come to the conclusion that most consumers would prefer the subscription, so perhaps it won't be that expensive because they have to compete?

It said we'll still have access to our classes. I am wondering about all the free blocks that I havent downloaded. Guess that might be my winter project.

What I noticed in that link is that Lucy Spector, the surviving wife and owner of Britex Fabrics in SF died. Britex is a wonderful, iconic, fabric shop that sits right in the middle of downtown San Francisco. There has been a lot of talk about Britex moving from it's Union Square location. Now, it is probably certain.

It does clearly state that those of us who have purchased will retain our lifetime status. I get (more than once a month) on their regular e-mails opportunities to buy at $20. I have several and I also have several on my wish list. I think I'll just purchase up my wish list rather quickly. I only buy quilting ones so I'll have my own little stash. In my world life gets in the way and projects get dragged out. Otherwise I'll peruse you tube and or use Qntv which is 25 a year or $2 a month. Thanks for the heads up. Isn't this always the way - you get your life set up to suit you and someone pulls the rug out from underneath you. Anyhow I'm about to turn 75 in 10 days so I can probably accumulate a life-time supply before the change. Happy quilting everybody!

It may be better... more access to more classes, more affordably than buying them forever. We might actually like this change.
