Re-gifting and me-gifting.
Love Dave Ramsey. He is ok with re-gifting but thinks me-gifting is silly. Thoughts??
Yes, i have re-gifted wedding and other gifts that i had no use for.
Yes, i have me-gifted too! I me-gifted my anniversary ring back in the spring. I usually me-gift on my birthdays too! No regrets!

I usually go through personal care gifts that I don't want and re-gift them to an unwed mother's group. Decorative objects go to the charity shop after I ask family members if they want anything. I me-gift sometimes too. My husband hands me the money and says "buy yourself something nice" and I take the money and run.

I have regifted; its better than either sitting around cluttering things up or at the thrift store. Me gifting; oh yes. When I was first marriend many many yrs ago I bought my self a Christmas present and the label said; To Mike, For Judy. He didn't catch on until he opened it and found a sewing machine. I told him to reread the label. Then he got it.
Now, I'm alone and last yr I got myself a Viking Ruby for Christmas and this yr I traded it for a Diamond Deluxe and for under the tree I want the Cusinhart Blender that also cooks the food. Last yr it was over 200, this yr under 100. I love making soups and this will be a great gift to myself. While it's cooking my beloved soup I can be embroiderying on my new machine. When I me gift, it's amazing, I never feel the need to return the gift to the store. Its always just what I want.

When I buy something I want I don't even think of it as me-gifting. If it is a large expensive purchase I talk it over with my husband, not IF I can buy it, but when I should buy it. If it is a small purchase I think it is in the same category as buying my clothes. I'm an adult; I can buy what I need and what I want. I should say that I have reached my golden years (whoever came up with that term?) and a person just doesn't need or want very much at that time of your life. And our new national economics may change most people 's buying habits very quickly anyway!

I didn't know there was a term for it, but yes, I me-gift. During the holidays when I'm shopping, I come across all sorts of things I'd like to receive, and I know no one would ever know or think to get them for me. Seems sort of pointless to tell my husband or kids to buy me something I've picked out and then wrap it and give it to me, so I started just shopping for myself during the holidays. And it's worked out very well!

I'm BAD about "me-gifting"! I've already gifted myself a new office chair for an early Christmas present (the old one wouldn't lift anymore, and it literally is sitting on the floor...); now I can't wait to see what else I want to me-gift myself with! I was spoiled in my previous life and I see no reason not to continue to participate!
