New to quilting and am curious as to what pattern you tried on your first official quilt? Did you keep it or give it away?

A 9 Patch Irish Chain and yes I kept it. Have given all of my quilts away since then though.

My first quilt was a sampler. I did keep it. It is on my bed now.

I still have my first quilt I need to still put the back on it but it wasn't one particular pattern, it was a sampler quilt at our LQS store. I did keep all the instruction sheets, as I've had to go back and look at the instructions a couple of times since then. You'll love quilting its highly addictive.

My first quilt was in the Trip Around the World pattern that I learned my first quilt class in May 1999. Fabrics weren't all cotton and I didn't know how to make a 1/4" seam correctly so it's not pretty but I kept it anyway. Next I made a baby quilt and a twin quilt in the same pattern and did better at constructing them. I used better fabrics and was pleased with outcome. Twin size is on the bed in my sewing room and the baby quilt is with granddaughter, Josi. She's outgrown it but keeps it in a drawer as a memory.

my first attempt was in a class to make a sampler baby quilt. this was in the 70's. i made my own templates cut out of milk jug plastic and the designs were drawn on graph paper. i still have the book and materials, but don't know where the actual fabrics have gotten to. i loved the colors, mint green, soft yellow and light orange :)

A crazy quilt, very scrappy and ugly! It was 12 inch blocks, awful, just awful, but I still have it. My kids fight over it. First real pattern quilt was Double pinwheel qulit from the book 101 fabulous rotary cutting quilts. My son still has it on the back of his couch. Faded and worn but other than that in good condition.

Georgia Bonesteels, Spinning Spools Wedding ring quilt. Yep, still have it. It's hanging in DD's closet.
