For those of you who haven't found it, Bonnie Hunter has a Facebook page/group called "Quiltville Open Studio" and there is a lot of activity going on over there now that the mystery quilt clue has posted. If you want to see what others are doing with their units, check out their photos. Great variety of fabrics and layouts going on.

whitepine, I haven't started sewing yet, but I like the idea of using two different pinks and two different teals in one broken dish unit.

I swore I would never join facebook, but I succumbed so I could look at what's going on at the open studio. Some fabulous looking units being shown!

Podunk, Thanks for that hint about going to BH's facebook page. There are definitely lots of ideas there already. And even some early guesses! I can see that the technique of cutting all the little half squares first lets you have more flexibility in putting them together. Since I am using the Wonder Cut ruler, which uses strips already sewn together, I think I'll stick to my original plan of one color for each fabric.

joe'smom, I joined Facebook a few years ago for the same reason. There was one website I wanted to visit. I never use my own page but it has come in handy a few times for visiting other sites.

I plan to mix my fabrics in each block. I'm just now ready to get started. Still debating on whether to use yellow or orange. Need to decide soon!

@whitepine: for mystery scrappies I make sure that I cut up a little of everything for each clue and mix them up as I piece so that it's scrappy as I go. When everything is done and ready to lay out, I do my best to spread things around. Hope that helps.

I also used the Easy Angle for the first time today. At first I found it a little finicky, but I soon got used to it and I think it's going to be the only way I make HST's for now on.

I cut the bare minimum of strips early today - enough to complete 4 whole units. Now I'm cutting more blues and pinks so I can mix them up in a scrappy look. I dug deeper into my scrap bin and found more pinks, blues, greens and blacks so they went into the pile too. I have ONE 2" black square that has a little white skull on it. When I'm finished with the quilt I'll dare people to find it

Glad these parts are 2.5". I can use my AccuQuilt Go 2.5" strip die. Then I just turn the strips sideways & subcut them into squares for the black & yellows. I did those first. Tomorrow will be the pinks/aquas. I was too tired to try out my new ruler.

I got started this afternoon. Won't even tell you the big goof I made with my cutting. All I'm saying is I hope we use more pink and aqua 2-1/2 inch strips. Otherwise I'll be doing more shopping. On the positive side, I got a few units put together and they look pretty good. They go together pretty fast so I might be able to keep up this week and still get the top done for the quilt I'm making for DD and SIL anniversary.

Will post pics tomorrow. Is this where we're putting them?

I used the easy angle for the first time today too. A few of mine are perfect like in BH's pic. Most of them are not. But I do like using it. Tomorrow I will cut my squares and put some blocks together. No has shown pics on here yet. I'll try to post some tomorrow. Guess I should say later today.

Fraew, That's a good idea. Thanks. Sometimes when I go scrappy I have too many of one size in one print in one area of my quilt.
