My main machine is a Bernina 440EQ, which I originally purchased for embroidery, after MANY problems with the Brother PE700 machine, which is sitting in a box in my garage. I have a small Janone that I use for classes, the Singer all in one machine that HSN sold last year (tried using it for embroidery, thread keeps jamming), a old Necchi that still works and a Bailey 15" long arm. I gave my niece a small Janome embroidery machine and a serger that I didn't use, she show some interest is sewing, but has been to busy with her social life to learn how to quilt.

Gave a small Janome to my nephew. Donated 2 clones to the Kidney Foundation Community Thrift store.
I love the old Singers but don't know why as my Mom didn't sew much but had some kind of clone for a while that she used when she did sew.
Did learn to sew on a treadle in Home Ec class. Maybe that's why I love them. All of my machines work and I keep them clean and oiled regularly. Sew on them also but most use the Viking as it is like driving a RR instead of a Volkswagen. LOL!!!

I learned early to sew--to early to remember. Anyway, on a treadle. I didn't get an electric one until I was married. One summer I made about 6 square dance skirts-------------and two can cans. about wore out my right leg!

I have several sewing machines.(15 total). I am mainly a quilter, I started sewing at 9yrs old making garments, made my first quilt when I was 30. I've been sewing for 47 years, 25 years as a quilter. I make lots of children's charity quilts and for wounded soldiers. I learned to use a treadle machine 6 years ago and piece quite a few of my quilts with a treadle. My Singer 115 treadle is 99 years old and still sewing as well as the day it rolled off the assembly line; can't say that about the new machines sold today.

A Singer from the 60's, a Janome for sewing/embroidery, a little Janome for classes, Janome serger, Avante Handiquilter, Wheeler and Wilson treadle (my grandmother's), and my toy Singer from the early 50's.

I was delighted to read all the comments here. I thought something was wrong with me because I can never part with any of my 13 machines. I love them all, like they are family. But it was so refreshing to see that I am not alone, and some even have more machines than I do. tee hee
