I have 7 machines and my favorite is the Brother 1500. It is an awesome machine. It has a knee lift and I bought it used for $400.

All of my Brother machines have knee lifts. Reasonable prices as well.

Check with Brubakerssewing.com; allbrands.com; kenssewing.com. They can tell you and also check sale prices.
Allbrands and Ken's has a lot of machines that you can see on their site....or check Janome.com for machines that have the lift, then go to the dealers for pricing.

I bought an HViking because of the bigger harp for quilting and when I started to sew I noticed there was no knee lift, however, it actually has a better system for the auto raise foot presser - when you stop it automatically lifts the foot about (???) 1/16 of an inch and you are then able to move the fabric if needed. I am Bernina all the way....I just couldn't justify getting a newer Bernina for the bigger harp when my Artista 180 (yes it's old) works great! The HViking was around $1000...not really sure...but I like it for doing my quilts. Good luck with your search.

I bought a trade in Bernina 440 at a Phaff dealer with a knee lift. For less than 800.00

The Brother cs6000i does. It also has some 70 (don't quote e) built-in decorative stitches; needle up/down; threader and loads of other features. I got mine for $150 about 7 years ago. They still make that model and it can be purchased new for around $190 or look on Ebay for used. Mine came with a load of feet and attachments and a quilting stand/extender. I love it. Good luck and let us know what you decide. I am always interested to know the final decision.

I have the Bernina 820, which has a knee lift. I don't use it because it hurts my leg. I'm on Coumadin. Don't know whether that has anything to do with it or not.

My Janome has the thread-cutter and it cuts the thread very short, but not nearly 1/4"! - so short that if I am using the Superior thread Bottom Line/So Fine poly threads, it pops right out of the needle and I have to re-thread it...or it takes a bit to bring the bottom thread up to the top. How do you deal with that when there is such a sort tail?
