Default Need some help

I am making this to donate to a local charity event. The size of the quilt ended up being 45X89. I was unhappy with the size so I put it away and now need to finish this. I have been told to add a 10 or 12 inch med pink border and add some applique pink ribbons on the border.

I have this in my head as not looking right. I think it will look like I didn't want to finish the quilt so just added a big border.

I have seen on here where people have a computer program where they can add borders to show how it would look. If anyone has a program and could do that I would appreciate it.

I would like to add more bargello strips but I waited so long to finish this I can't get all the fabrics I used any longer. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate any advice.

I just can't see how it would look with big borders. It may be fine but I would like to see it. I can find 7 of the pink fabrics I used. Is there a way to add to it using only that amout of strips.

It is very beautiful 48" is an odd width size for the length you have made this. I think that if you have some of the pinks left over, I would make a small border on the sides and then a larger one. You will need to play with what you have left to see how it would turn out.

I think there's plenty of pink in the quilt already.

I'm a big fan of wide borders, and I would use the dark purple for the borders.

If you want, you can liberally sprinkle some pink ribbons on the border, where they will definitely stand out.

It will look fabulous!

I know the size is odd. I should have looked at the pattern before I made it. I know a couple of people have used the same pattern. One made adjustments in the amount of fabric before she started and carried out a wave design. It was very pretty, but she figured it out before she started.

The other made it this size and they have not had their charity event yet so she is hoping the size will be o.k.

The designer is Heidi K. Farmer it is called Ribbon Quilts Pink Bargello Ribbon. I bought it online last year. I would think it would still be available, but I am not sure what website I got it from. She donates $2 from each pattern to breast cancer research.

(sorry, I messed up the cropping and was too lazy to go back and fix it)

Here's an idea of what it would like with borders - darkest purple, med purple, med pink, lighter pink.

These borders are 10" (sides) and 3" (top/bottom) for a quilt that will be ~60x95

It's a beautiful quilt to donate. Be very proud of yourself. I personally like either one of the purples that were suggested. I think whoever bids on this (I assume it's an auction) will be so happy.

Thank you so much. This is just what I was looking for. I think I like purple. It makes the design stand out.

Again Thanks.

Your top is beautiful I would make borders purple and you could make narrower borders until it is the width you want it. Like 2-1/2" - 3-1/2" etc. I have done that many times. I think smaller borders will look nicer. You could finish with a 4-1/2" or 5-1/2 unfinshed last border.
