Default quilt storage ideas

I'm looking for quilt storage ideas; any comments about using the vacuum bags? Need some way to store finished quilts other than just stacking on closet shelves.

Hang them on sturdy hangers in the closet.

That's what I do. ^^^^^^^^

I hang them on a pant hanger, cover them with a clear kitchen trash bag (cut a small hole). I make a descriptions of the quilt in the 'package', written on a bookmark blank, punch a 1/2" hole and put that over the hook and hang them. Everything is there nice and safe, away from critters (or all shapes or sizes or species).

This is also how I store my finished tops that needed to be quilted. Since they are usually thinner than the quilts, I use the hanger that holds several pairs of slacks. Then the tag lists every item that is stored in that hanger. Works well for me.

I put most of them on a bed in a guest bedroom. The pile gets pretty deep...

If you get any of these bags don't get the large large ones because after you pack them if they are to long you don't have a place to put them. That is a mistake I made.

I was always told quilts, or anything that can absorb moisture, shouldn't be stored in sealed plastic bags. Something about temperature change causing moisture buildup and mod/mildew.

I try to give most of mine away. But I have a friend that hangs them in the closet in dry cleaning bags. The bottom is open so they can breathe.

I lay a sheet in my old suitcase, lay them in with breathing room, and slide the closed suitcase under the bed. I do wrap the sheet around the quilts. When house cleaning comes around, I air them out, refold in a different way, and tuck them back in. I wish I had enough wall space to display them all.
