Maryb, I hope your mom's health issues clear up soon. That's nice that you are able to assist her with her projects. I've never actually seen a professional LAQ going through their paces before. I'd like to. I rent a LA at a LQS and basically just quilt a meandering pattern or cursive letters into sentences. Nothing too fancy. I don't think I'd want to take the time that it would require to quilt anything too time consuming as they've increased the price to $18/hr to rent the machine. It would be more cost effective for me to pay a LAQ to do it for me. And it would surely look better.

Good for you for jumping in and trying to help your Mom.
I love my LA, and I love doing quilts for other people.
They are always soooo happy about them when they are done.
I agree! My customers are always so thankful! Your mom probably enjoys your company as well. My teenage son helps when I'm quilting but it's really the time I enjoy talking with him and learning who is today. I don't know maybe he will grow up and say he want to be a LAQ.
