Default Sister and quilting.

My sister was here for a few days. We were looking at pictures of quilts, and really like the tumbling blocks. I dig around and found my tumbling block template and we went through my stash and we each made a quilt top, and even had enough for the inner border and spend $5 on the outer border. Set up 2 sewing machines on the dining room table and just pieced away! Then we looked at the 10 minute block and decided to make one - and even did some embroidery. A fun few days!

sounds like you had a good time and you were very productive, I have a friend join me every monday evening and we sew together, it means I get to sew at least once a week.

You are lucky to have a sister to share with like that, Mt sister would say what a big waste of time it is to make something you can buy and when I explained why she would say for what Money it costs you could just keep buying new ones when they wore out and would tell me how much time I was wasting. She takes 3 to 4 hours every day just to put her makeup on and buys every make you younger looking item they sell

I have 3 sisters. 2 like quilts, go to shows, have bought fabric, but not made anything. One of them is more into knitting, crochet, and cross stitch. Another sister makes beautiful bed sized quilts and has a small stash. I have quite a stash, haven't made very much, but love fabric and old machines, esp treadles. G invited me to join her Guild, I'm actually using stash now, and I share! It's nice to have someone to share with- sister or friend. I didn't buy fabric or even sew when married. My ex preferred to buy everything, and felt making anything besides dinner was a waste of time. That's probably why I am so in love with fabric now.

I'm afraid my sister is getting addicted. Until now she weaves rugs etc on a grand loom ( I don't know how you call it, can weave fabric, too). She's fabric crazy like me, I get rugs and fabrics from her, she gets anything quilted from me to sell and to keep, so far.. A while ago she visited Istambul ,Turkey. I received a postcard: She wrote there were quilt blocks all over the walls everywhere! Isn't this one of the FIRST symptoms of addiction?
