Terrific job on the "fix". Even more terrific is your friend. And I can COMPLETELY understand your immediate nausea when you discovered the error!! I use "dry erase" markers on plexiglass when I'm "testing" a quilting idea, but I also have a Sharpie that is almost identical. I try to be VERY aware of which one I'm using, and also try to NOT have either of them anywhere close once I start quilting. But, as Forrest Gump said after stepping in dog-doo - "It happens."
Your friend is a REAL friend. Hugs to you both for knowing what is REALLY the most important - your friendship.

Now I would make about four or six more of those "extra" seam lines scattered throughout the quilt. A design element!

Excellent idea, maviskw.
So glad you were able to fix it, MaryKatherine.

I have read all the responses and have yet to see how you did it. Will you please tell, MaryKatherine? I can't see any semblance of that very dark line.

I replaced two blocks the gold square, the triangle and a portion of the band by hand.

Wow. You are so lucky to have such a friend. Try to always have no pens out but the marker that you wish to use. Avoids a lot of heartbreak. (Ask me how I know)
