I love this board. So many good people that offer their advice and direction. I have a 6600P and have had problems with FMQ so I stopped using it for that. Pretty expensive machine for just piecing. Now I am going to try FMQ with the feed dogs up. Thanks

To fix the problem you have to put the feed dogs up before you turn your machine off. Then when you turn it on again you make one reg. stitch then drop the feed dogs and start quilting.

This has worked for me for the last 2 years and I've quilted about 20 quilts since then with no problem. Try it. Hope it works for you too. Bonnie
Hi...oddly enough I tried that too....I left the feed dogs up for a while, then dropped them and for the rest of the time it was fine even stopping and starting and moving from one area to another....it's just such a bizarre thing.

The reason I haven't gone back to the dealer is that I bought it second hand from a Husqvarna Viking dealer and don't think they would really know too much about it....and felt it was safer that they didn't mess with it.

The "default" stitch is what you get when you turn your machine on. - I have never really paid attention to what it is, but mine said "D1" as the stitch when I turned it on. All I do to FMQ is drop the feed dogs & put the darning foot on. Then I go to town, check the back & adjust the top tension to a higher number if I need to. I only read how to FMQ last night after this thread started. I use Mode 1 - what the machine is set to be when you turn it on. I only get eyelashes if I forget to tighten the tension & stitch slower than I am moving the quilt around a curve.

Sorry about the confusion.

P.S. I have NEVER adjusted the bobbin tension. It's been just fine, no matter what thread I'm using in the bobbin or on top.
