I am traveling to Scotland and would love to visit some quilt shops while I am there. Will be over for 2 months July & August and near Glasgow but will travel around.
Thanks for the help, Cathie.

Just back from Ireland and I found shops by doing Yahoo search. Wonderful shops and wonderful people! Got to love a shop that serves afternoon tea to shoppers at that time of day! Have a great time!!

If you have time to travel over the border it is worthwhile visiting Harrogate. It is full of craft and embroidery shops - at least it was when I lived there and is really fabulous place to visit. The Shambles in York is an interesting walk as well. Of course, the Castle and the park in Edinburgh are first port of call if you are on the tourist trail. Have fun.

See if the Loch Lomond quilt show is on while you're there--it's very near Glasgow and a top show. If you go, you can ask for advice on places to hunt for fabric. There are quilt shops in the most surprising places. And if you really want to hit the quilting jackpot--go to Birmingham's NEC (get a cheap flight from BMI Baby from Glasgow or Edinburgh, walk to the NEC from the airport) and take in the Festival of Quilts. It's the best show in Europe, huge, well organized, lots and LOTS to see and do, quilts from all over the world and fantastic vendors. Here's the FoQ website:www.twistedthread.com/pages/exhibitions/viewExhibition.aspx?id=17&view=overview
Stop by my classroom--I'm teaching there for the third year!

Opps---that was the 2009 link for Festival of Quilts. Here's the one for 2011. And the show starts August 11!

Thank you ladies for the information. I am really looking forward to it. If you can fit in my case you can go LOL. I was born in Scotland and came to the states in 1965 when I married and navy guy.

Hello. Just catching up with things after having been away for a few days and noticed your post. I live in a village near Glasgow and I believe 'Purely Patchwork' as a shop reopened again in Linlithgow which is between Glasgow and Edinburgh. There is also a patchwork section in 'Mandors' a fabric shop in Renfrew Street, behind Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. My friend and her group exhibited at Loch Lomond with their incredible work but I am afraid you have missed that. Hope you have a great time 'back home!'
