Mine gets that way when I'm working on a project. I have a cardboard box next to my table that I can sweep throw-aways into and I have a basket that I put scraps big enough to save into.

Between major projects I get everything cleaned up, straightened and put away. Then mess it all up again on the next project.

It just feels good to start with a clean room and the fabrics for the next quilt all layed out when I start.

I can't do this 'in a bin thing' its the floor every time for threads and tiny scraps - although I tend to throw useable scraps (anything bigger than about an inch square!) into a pile for throwing into my scrap box later.....

Actually - I love my scrap box - it keeps my creative 10 year old out of MY FAT QUARTERS!!!

That's a happy room!
(Reminds me of a dirty oven: happy people who ate the pies that ran over the pan and dripped in the oven!)

Pickles, you sound like my sister. She almost washes the plate before I am finished with my meal. Works great for me if it works great for you. I use the floor and clean up when it gets on my nerves or when the project is done.

I have to keep mine tidy, as I quilt at the dining table. A only have a plastic tub and it all goes in there at the end of the night. I would love to have a sewing room.
