So sorry he hurt you that way. I think it's beautiful and you know what - there are a lot of veterans and injured troops whose heart would be so blessed to receive this. If I was you I'd go pick it up and find a soldier that would cherish it.

So hard when you do the work in Love. Remember not to give him anything else. BUT don't hold back your hugs, you only have one dad.

I am a firm believer if you do not quilt or just not creative you(they) will never appreciate. It is beautiful.

I love it! And can I ever emphasize with you....made my Mom a wonderful vest (knitted) with expensive yarn and nice colors(she was always cold).....she unraveled it and put it in a ball. She said the yarn was too expensive to have for it.

Years ago I made a crib quilt for my married stepson's new baby. We were moving at the same time, packing up a house we'd had for 9 years and there was a lot going on but I took the time to make it from scratch, not a panel (not criticizing panels!!). I never saw it in use for the baby but I did see it a year or two later ... stuffing a gap between the air conditioner and the window frame :(
I'm sorry your dad doesn't appreciate the thought and work that went in to making his gift. Remember - his actions are not a reflection on you or your gift but they say a lot about him.

Sorry he didn't like it. It is beautiful. Maybe if he could see the process of making a quilt/wallhanging he would have a better appreciation for a handmade gift.

it is wonderful. My Mother would have done the same thing. She didn't want her daughters to be conceited so nothing we did was ever good enough. At least you tried. I am sorry he didn't see see your kindness and thoughtfullness.

It is the ones we love that can hurt us the most. Some people are just not "quilt worthy."

That happened two years and five months ago.
How are things now?

You made a beautiful quilt and it is very patriotic. DO NOT let him discourage you. Donate it to a Vetern's hospital where it will be displayed and cherished.
