I believe it's also called Crown of Thorns. Don't know about easier method, but I see some flying geese and rectangles with corners snowballed, also strips cut on angles, if you don't mind waste.

Crown of Thorns has a round center. I thought of Hands All Around and Eight Hands Around and neither of those is right either. I like how you sketched it out using Flying Geese. I'd do them around the outside as well. I love the lighter blue contrast in the center.

Is that a pattern sheet with the colors on it? I see you said you drew it so I am guessing that the yellow sheet is that one. Please don't take offense (as I think the block is beautiful with the fabrics you've chosen) I just wondered if you are aware that the one hst is not the same as the other corners. Any block that has 64 pieces I just wouldn't want to make a mistake and find out too late!
