I must be turning into a quilter...I am making another quilt top before finishing my other one. I decided to put the borders and binding on them both at the same time. I am going to make a disappearing 9 patch block using the 9 strip block method. I am playing around with the colors still...debating on if I should use three different colors or just these two. I will post pictures as I go along. You can also see my progress and instructions on http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/ - this is the first time I am trying the strip method for the disappearing nine block so I hope it come out nice. I think I may do several different 9 blocks with other fabrics.

Okay, you've convinced me. I have to do a D9P. I love your choices. I looked at that tutorial and now I know what I am going to do with my charm squares. And yes, you are definitely a quilter; your mind is going in all directions just like the rest of us.

I like to have a lot of irons in the fire at one time...piecing, applique, tops to be sandwiched and quilted and even one or two that just need to be bound. Then I can switch from one to another whenever the mood strikes. Now my favorite aunt who didn't start quilting until she was 70 ( I took her with me one morning to my small quilter's group and got her started) only did one project at a time..always a full sized quilt. Then she would buy everything she needed for another one. She was very organized and methodical...I was standing behind the door when those traits were being handed out   . She passed away in 1994 at age 73 and I have all the quilts she made as well as some great memories of the times we spent together sewing and quilting.

I ended up using 9 fabrics again, the 9 blocks are all sewed and now ready to cut into the disappearing 9 block.

I have cut all of the blocks and now they are the disappearing nine block...I just finished running around to clean up my mess...and putting away my sewing machine and stuff. Now to quickly make dinner...I will try and post pictures later. I still need to sew all of the disappearing blocks together...I was getting very tired...make 3 errors that I was able to fix. One was cutting the square wrong. Lucky for me that I have extra material so I remade another 9 block. Done for the night before I make any more major errors.
