Hello ladies!!! Hope you don't mind if I go backwards...

I've finished the last details on the January quilt! I don't often work in purple, so this was a wonderful challenge. I'm thrilled with how it turned out. The rail fence blocks are quilted with straight line quilting. But the inside of the 'moon' is quilted with FMQ swirls. Both with lavender thread.

I've been working on some 'x' blocks that are a bit out of the box for the February challenge. I made a slash block instead and I instead of the color swatch posted here I was working with the colors in the fabric printed in the book. I can share them if you like...

I would love to see everyone's progress pictures! I have my top almost finished but won't be able to photograph it till after tomorrow's busy birthday party here.

Is it okay if I combine my red and cream challenge block with a different block in different colors in the same quilt? I have an idea of what I'd like to do, but I wanted to check first.

Beautiful quilt, Kristi!

Kristi, I meant to say I really like the purple quilt. The moon appliqued on is a cool focal point.

Thanks zozee! I love how the moon really makes it special! I looks really awesome up close when you can see the swirly quilting.

I've been working on the March challenge too. I'm using those red/white blocks with some other blocks and negative space.

I finished a quilt top for February's challenge of the X block using a variation on the inspiration fabric. I chose my fabric based on "jewel tones with neutrals" and wanted something youthful for a baby quilt to suit my purpose. I used the floral for the jewel tones, and made the sashing neutral.

It's all from my scrap bin.

This one, as is, measures about 25x25. I haven't chosen a binding yet. Any suggestions? I wish I had enough of the navy fabric left, but I only have about 9" square!

I've named this quilt "Blue X Wins". It'll be going to a NICU in California.

I had one main color deviation from the challenge fabric, which was yellow. It just worked with my fabric well, and also for the recipient. (An interesting research study I did 20 years ago found that children with respiratory ailments gravitated to yellow. So for a preemie with underdeveloped lungs, I wanted yellow in this quilt.)

Default Joining the fun

I've enjoyed reading and seeing the results of your adventures! So I'll pretend March won't be as crazy as the last two months and am committed to joining in the fun. I've an inkling to try some variations similar to friendship star variations I've been working on for a sampler quilt with another group. Needed one, made six......story of my quilting!

Great quilts Kristijoy and Zozee! A lavender moon with a bit of chevrons in the sky. Happy Xs for a preemie. What fun to see the results of working outside our comfort zone.

Welcome to the group Gray Fox. I hope you aren't in the area that's expecting 1-2 feet of snow.
