Once you get to be OK using the FMQ foot for SID, you can add straight stitch patterns and FMQ patterns without having to change the foot. Plus, it is easier to do basic SID by turning the quilt. Using the FMQ foot there is no directional restriction.

August UFO Finish
This is a UFO that grew.
I purchased a new bed after I retired and moved south. A bigger bed meant l and needed a bigger quilt. I hunted thru my UFOs and found one that was throw size and had lots of fabric in the bag. The original UFO was turned crosswise, I made lots more blocks and added to both ends. Rental time on a LA got it quilted. The binding was done using the flange or faux piping, all my machine method. Feels great to get another UFO crossed off the list!

I just found this site even though I have been reading QB for a few years. I got a late start compared to some of you but I started in July I finished a hand appliqué quilt queen sized and a lg. Wall sized hand applique quilt. These are both at my sister -in -law's house awaiting her quilting, also a round wall quilt that is hanging in our guest room.
August finished a chocolate and lilac queen sized, ( also at Sis-in-law's) 2 table runners from border prints and a pieced table runner, and a Barbara Lavalee wall hanging "Chorus Line". I now have only 5 UFO's remaining then I start on the kits I have never even opened.
Whew! It does look like a bunch when you write them down!
