I was able to get clue 2 blocks trimmed up yesterday afternoon while grandson was playing in the back garden. Just took a small mat, a 6" square ruler and my rotary cutter outside to the patio table and finished it up. All ready for clue #3! Yay

Default Ready for #3

I've finally finished the first two clues, but now I'm not sure about my constant color...it seems too pink, but it will have to be. It has been fun to see all the variations.

I'll put the idea on the back burner for now.
I know what you mean. I went to the close-out with this quilt in mind. Bought most of my fabrics for it at 75% off. Oh how I wish I had thought of those blues too.

I think most everyone on this Board is whipping through Clue 2, but I saw on the Facebook Blog there are LOTS of folks having trouble with it. So I took some photos of each of the steps as I sewed a unit and posted it there. Just in case we have some beginners 'lurking' here as well, I thought I would post it here too if it will be helpful!

Jeanne, I am one of the people having problems. I have measured twice, cut and found that for some reason I am not getting that 1/4 inch at the top of the triangle. Rip out, try again, get frustrated and put it away and try again. I am thinking maybe I need to cut the magenta from wider strips, maybe and see if that helps. I am really frustrated.

Thank you Jeanne. I was totally struggling but my templates made from the print out were a bit off even though the line I measured was what it was supposed to be. So I went to Joann's and bought templates. Much better uniform results! Thanks for the pics, I can use all the help I can get!

Sandra, are you starting the second seam from the bottom? That might make the difference. Much success to you!

Thank you Jeanne for posting those pictures. I can see that it does not matter if you sew the right side first or the left as shown on my ruler instructions. Looks like it would work either way.

Sandra, I also have been having problems. Cut my side triangles the full length and ignored the pre trimming suggested by my ruler. I needed to do a bit of trimming afterward because it was oversized but I was able to cut the practice blocks down to the correct size.
