Orphaned quilter up for adoption! Ok, so I'm not orphaned per se, but my older sister who was teaching me all sorts of sewing moved form here in NY all the way to Tacoma Washington. Boo. I even wash windows! I am making some progress on getting the tops to come together quite well, but the sides, binging and backing scare me. And I have NO IDEA how to actually quilt it. I'm trying to convince my hubby that I need to biy one of those big bad boys that does all the quilting for me at the touch of a button!

Thank you, as soon as my head quits spinning, I will make a list and start working on it. Funds are very limited. We are a non-profit. I will be asking for donations to get us started. I think the general public will respond kindly and help us out. I can also approach fabric stores for some donations. But it is nice to have a list to show them.

I'll adopt someone. I can help you with the basics and encourage you, and even define a few techniques--but you'll have to translate much of the texting jargon.....I'm an English teacher in my other life, and we NEVER use abbreviations and such when writing. (There's a separate rule for English majors.) I have no idea how many quilts I've made, but I will confess that I'm addicted.

Hi,
I'm so new to quilting, I squeek! I've been lurking in the background here for about a month, and I've come to a conclusion. You guys are great! You all seem so friendly and helpful. I am a grasshopper in quiltland, please help guide me in my path....

I agree with the greatness of the people of this board. It's wonderful to have sister quilters to chat with. My mom was a quilter until the Alzheimer's got so bad that she couldn't remember how to sew. We still chatted and she would ask about my my quilts but now the disease is so advanced that she simply has no interest in anything and can barely talk at all. Needless to say, we don't talk about quilts. I have a great visit if she remembers who my kids and husband are. Speaking of Alzheimer's has anyone made a quilt for the Alzheimer's Project they hold at festival?
