OMG! I couldn't read 34 pages before posting. I have a full blanket chest that I've been throwing scraps into for years, to use "someday." Since I haven't done many quilts, a lot of the fabric isn't quilting cotton, but.... I have learned that these scraps are great for the fabric "pictures" I'm trying to make. I even learned how to use those teeny, tiny pieces that are even too small for mosaic quilts -- can't think of what they're actually called, at the moment -- you know, the one and two inch squares that make mosaic pictures.

Anyway, I don't know if I will get to a traditional quilt, or not, but I am using my scraps. I think this is a great idea and I'm off to look at that website, I look forward to seeing everyone's quilts.

Winter Haven, FL ::) already started this project! I decided I'd probably be 6 foot under before all my fabric was used so I am doing as you said seeing how many quilts I can make with what I have. I like to have several projects going so I don't get bored so have 3 started from the stash. Already cut the fabric for the projects.

Hey Wendy! count me in! I love a scrap quilt, mostly done with a scrappy log cabin, got smart & decided to start some 'leaders' for a triple Irish chain, using the same pile of scraps; I can't say as I'll send the actual quilts to Tim for judging....... but, I will post the fotos!

Wendy, love your challenge...I have been saving my scraps since the 1st quilt I made. I cut a 3 or 5 sided piece about the size of my palm and then just start sewing strips on like a log cabin. Sometimes the strips are the same width, sometimes not. sometimes I plan a color scheme and sometimes completely scrappy. I usually stop at a 10 or 12 inch foundation pieced block. You can do anything you want with the blocks.

I just went back t page 34 where the conversation was about garage sales and clothing from loved ones. I also use these ideas and when I go to a thrift store I like to look for the designer dresses and skirts. The Ralph Lauren fabrics are sooooooo beautiful.

The only thing I could find on "mile a minute blocks" is that they seem to resemble a crazy quilt block. I would suppose if you just used strips in the block and kept turning it it would still be a "'mile a minute crazy quilt block'".

just type in mile a minute block in your search engine, I saw several quilts hanging.
