Rhonda Lee, I'm sorry she is sick hopefully she will be better soon! What if you took a bunch of hexies and /or some yo-yo's to make? You could keep them in a little bag or box until you had enough to make a table topper, mat, or yo-yo doll?
Hugs and prayers going out to you.

Rhonda Lee, I agree with sewred...I was going to suggest hexies but yo-yo's are a great idea, too. Wouldn't take up much room. Hope your mom gets better.

Rhonda Lee..hexies are a great easy to pick up portable project..sorry about your mom.
Just finished the last of 72 blocks of a stash quilt..now alternating the blocks with red squares, fabric I fell off the wagon on in January..anxious to get this all put together.

I just finished a birthday gift wall hanging for my DH. He loves the old Mail Pouch Tobacco barns. I made him a wall hanging with one on it. I did the whole thing from my stash except for the barn. I bought 1/4 yard of a textured fabric for it. The barn fabric is wool and alpaca fabric, it has a gold thread running thru it. It was perfect for the barn. His bday is on Monday.Other than this I have been doing really well not buying fabric.

I've found when that happens to me the best place to find something is my stash. Maybe see if you can find something you don't feel is boring from your stash.

I'm sorry about your mom. I saw a lot of hexie replies but several others came to mind to me as well. Yo-yos or even drunkard's path I have hand sewn.

I thought I was doing really good this year as I have only purchased a couple yards of fabric which I have already used. That being said, I added up the amount of money I have spent this year compared to last year at this same time and I have actually spent more! This year I have been buying more supplies and CD's for embroidery. Looks like what I had been spending on fabric I am now spending on notions. Guess I am helping the economy!

Rhonda, Hope your mom is well enough to leave the hospital soon. The only hand work I do is knitting, so I'm no help!
