Be accepting of your own learning curve!
My sister beats herself up every time she sees a quilt that is done by a quilter even slightly ahead of her in terms of skill. She forgets that others may have been quilting longer or more often than she has, and once their work looked beginner level as well.
Better to tell yourself "hey, I love that and will take the time to learn and master that skill"!
Have fun learning and refining new quilting skills...there are so many to explore and that is what makes quilting perennially challenging, interesting and fun.

When going through difficult times in my life, I found that needle and thread helps me deal with the stress and refocuses my brain so I calm down. I always try to keep something that could use extra quilting (even if it really doesn't) near by.

It's okay to say "no" to someone asking one to finish a "dreadful/hopeless/ugh" project.
It's also okay to dump/discard something that simply is not going well. So - yes, there is money involved. There is also money involved if one goes out to eat, goes on a trip, goes gambling -
Poor people (charity recipients) also know the difference between "well done" and "badly done".

Borders were my dread. Piecing the long strips, sewing them on, keeping them flat, and an all around hassle for me. I decided why do it the way that was hard for me. Now I sew the border on each edge block like sashing. It is so much easier and I get perfect borders every time. it's easy to sew a pieced border this way as an extra block on each end of the row and cross the top and bottom.
