Anyone here ever heard of a treadle machine by the name of LA Reine
Levy & Sommers
Rayne, LA ?

It was given to me by a friend who was born in 1923 and it was her grandmothers. It has beautiful read scrollwork.

I'm (almost) speechless when I hear such stories...not about you being able to get the machines (good for you!), but about a family member wanting to "get rid of" family treasures.

I saw a to-die-for scrap quilt for sale at the Houston quilt show ( a Triple Irish Chain made up of tiny, tiny squares of marvelous colors and precise hand quilting, close to 100 years old.) The dealer said the quilter's g-granddaughter sold it because she didn't want it.

I guess the bright side is: you and whoever buys that quilt will no doubt cherish those pieces of history more than their previous owners did.

Yippeeeee! Please post a picture when you get them!

I also amazes me that there are some people who just are not the list bit sentimental. Then again, it may be just that they don't have room to keep some of the family treasures.

Is everybody ready for Christmas! I finished my quilts and I am now working on some Advent Calendars just for fun!

ok - now I know it's Christmas and you're probably full & sleepy but someone PLEASE go to page 492 and look at my pix of the La Reine Coffin Top Treadle. I can't find anything on the internet. I did find a number on the plate that goes over the shuttle bobbin and it's 2929792 and on that same plate it lists the size of thread/needle to use. It's driving me c-r-a-z-y!!!!!
