Kathy, your fabrics took my breath away... beautiful. Of course, I am also a winter, no wonder! :-D
Oh, I feel for you on the loss of your water. Occasionally, when my DH is watering animals in the barn he accidently leave the water running which drains our well. Well, that isn't cool, cuz, like you said... we forget all the things we need water for until we are OUT of water. Same thoughts go through my head when the electricity goes out.

It is funny about the color test. According to this one online, I am a spring - what a bunch of hooey. I am a lot of things but spring is not one of them. I think I am firmly planted in Fall but I can lean in either of the adjoining seasons for a quick departure. Lavender (summer) looks good on me, as does black (winter), but I am best in greens and browns - even orange.

Kathy, I will have to take pics of my batiks, they seem very similar to yours.

Not sure that helps you. I believe Spring is my secondary season and I love the colors in that line also. :-D

I have some ideas to suggest on different treatments by machine for those who don't want to hand stitch. I will be taking some pics soon.

Hmmm, I never had my season done..no time back then, but I've always preferred the rusts, greens, etc..so yes, autumn colors. Most compliments came when I was wearing green. I like this quilt in black/batiks, but it just won't work in my house that way and I hate to invest the time and $ and end up with a beautiful quilt that looks terrible in my house....so....
I'm thinking on point and I'm planning to do some mirror image type quilting in the fill-in blocks. I obviously have lots of playing and planning to do before we get started! Some varigated thread with some sparkly...:D:
Kathy, your fabrics look wonderful! It will be scrappy with that many to play with, but gosh..its gonna be a beauty!

Goodmorning everyone, I am asleep when all of you are chatting what a bummer have to catch up every morning.
Thanks Candi for the advice on the colour.
Kathy, love all your beautiful batiks, that is some fabric you have there all beautiful colours.
Linda (SewExtreme) we have another Linda so think if you don´t mind you will be known as LindaS. Lesley told you that my name was Elle, its Eleanor really but some how its difficult for the spanish to get their tongues round my name so to them I am Elena and the Brits here have shortened it to Elle.
Hope you all get your books delivered safely it a sore test of patience when you have to wait on something you really really want.
Anyone who is having any doubts about joining in on this one, fear no more, there will be loads of help here, when we all did the Dear J quilt we all learned how to do "Y" seams and turned under applique, it sure was a learning curve for me too and I have sewn for years. Loads had never Paper Pieced either so learned that along the way too.
Elle

In this book, its obvious that Aie has an enormouse collection, as lots of the blocks have a different fabric for each petal in a 'flower'. Not everyone will have so many, but this is where I think a scrappy version will come into its own. Equally, if each flower is done in the same fabric, I still think it will look really pretty, so this is one of the reasons I was particularly drawn to the design, because of its versatility.

I think its versatile too. I wasn't planning to use quite so many different fabrics as I used on DJ. You won't believe me, but my scraps (leftovers) mostly fit into a Wally's bag...so not too many. Of course, I can't use any of them on this one since the "feel" of it will be very different.
I love all the different batiks though. Kathy has soo many that she might have to "make up" some additional pieces for hers!!

Elle, just think, you are awake and sewing while we are all snoozin' :-D :-D :-D
If it doesn't conflict with the other Linda (whom I haven't met yet) I would rather be LindaL or LindaAnn. If not then I will go with LindaS. Just remind me since I might not answer to LindaS at first... lol, lol
Since I don't have my book yet, I wondered if the blocks all use batiks? Or is that what most everybody prefers?
Elle, you mentioned paperpiecing. Now that is one skill I have learned. And, I love it. As long as you don't cut too closely everything comes out sewww precise.
I am on my way to town for the day and just might have to stop at a really cool quilt store called Quiltmania. She has the most lovely fabrics, I love to just drink it all in. :-D :-D :-D
