That was my first thought and that's what I did--unscrewed everything! Once Nursie76 directed me to a picture of how it should look then all became clear! There was a screw/button on the back that I didn't know what it was for -- the thread holder attached to this!

Glad your problem's been resolved, Bernie . . .looks a LOT like my grandmother's old Dressmaker machine I learned to sew on . . .forever ago :) Does the bobbin wind on the bed below the machine head?

No, never seen one like that...can you get a pic? That would be interesting.

It is a class 15 clone. Try googling that, and you will get more results. It takes a typical class 15 bobbin(still make today) In essence, even though it is a japan machine, it is one of the best machines to sew on, they are heavy duty workhorses. Yours is most likely a 70s model of class 15 clone, a lot of the earlier ones are similar to the singer 15, but later they changed the look of it.

Wow, that looks like it was quite a machine in it's day...kind of reminds me of the styling of the cars from the 50's.

Virgual Bernie,

I don't know but I LOVE it! It is great. You see that it has one bobbin on the threader? Can you send a pict of the back side? I thought your thread spool pin was missing, but the top doesn't easily show the hole to put it in. Could the spool go on the back side? Some do, but I dont know if it will thread with spool on the back? Humm....

Aardie.

I figured out how to put the spool holder on, thanks to Nursie76 sending me to an Ebay site with a pic of where it should be! I do have a compartment on top of the machine that I have no idea what it supposed to do. I'll add that pic--maybe someone has something like it on their machine?
