That's horrible!! It wasn't packaged very well I will add, I don't know if anyone else has the problem or has noticed but I've received several things via UPS lately and they look like they were tied onto the back of the truck and dragged to my house!! I've received FedEx packages with no damage. EVERY package I've received in the last month from UPS has been ripped almost to shreds!!

If you go through PayPal or eBay, you will probably have to send it back WITH delivery confirmation before you get your refund. Make sure you show it's condition in the dispute and clearly state you must be reimbursed for return shipping. Usually the buyer is responsible for return shipping through PayPal (crappy policy) so I would dispute through eBay rather than PayPal. With the pictures and admission of improper packing from the seller you should easily be reimbursed for return shipping though. Once the package is delivered you will get your refund. If you are working it out with the seller without ebay or paypal mediation, do make sure to get Your refund and cost of return shipping before you ship it back. And definitely still get delivery confirmation.

That is so sad!!!
I've had several machines, bought from eBay, arrive broken plus the wooden case smashed into a million pieces, too. I now keep my eye on Craigslist. The prices are usually cheaper and there is no shipping involved.

So sorry for the complications. We just sent a machine back to the owner ( eBay) and were promptly reimbursed thru Pay Pal. First major problem we've had. It would make 3/4 of a turn and then lock up. Tried everything suggested here but nothing worked. We didn't feel we could afford more $$ for a repair bill as we are hoping to resell some. Not looking for lots of $$ just having fun buying them and fixing them up.

Thank you all for the advice and comments ! I filled out a return form for Paypal. Now I'm repacking the machine with lots of padding ( and love ) so it will have a safer trip back home. Back to yard and garage sales for me !!!!

Me thinks you treated the machine that belong to his mother with more respect than he did. He's an idiot!

Send it back but make sure you are not stuck paying postage. I got one from ebay that was the same way. The seller's insurance told him not to get it returned. He refunded my money and I kept the machine which I used for parts. Machines were not meant to endure such treatment. Mine also had no packing/padding and the flimsy box was crushed beyond recognition. When you bid on a machine, send the seller a notice how you want it shipped if you are to buy it. If they answer in the affirmative, bid on it. I have bought 8 machines via ebay, one total destruction, one slightly damaged all due to poor packing.
