They can manufacture this needle again with a minimum order of 10,000 needles in one size only (NM 80, NM 90 or NM100. Delivery is about 6 to 8 months. Price is US $ 52.80 per box of 100 needles.

so, kickstarter?
Interesting: The unknown is whether or not there's a market for them. It'd be a small investment for 100 of each but how many people use their Singer 12s (or 13s) and need a supply of needles? Probably 13s would be but I've never seen one.
Thinking as a potential reseller, the bigger 206x13 needles would be easier to move because there are a million machines that use these (206, 306, 319, 320). Initially I was just interested in buying a box of 16s and 18s of these for myself but there would be a market for them. Schmetz made the 16s until 10 months ago.
Edit: Is it cheaper if you get them to re-make more than one type or size (a bulk or "good customer" discount)

Nope. That is only for one size of one type. each is a separate order.

I agree the "newer needle" may be easier to move, but from MY very skewed point of view, the 12 would be more FUN to sell.

My original motivation for this was to get a line of "Historic" needles available for collectors.

As to the Singer #12's, Frister and Rossmans, and any other 12 inspired clone being used. I agree however, I cannot tell you how many times I have heard a person say "I don't sew with that one because the needles are too expensive/can't find them"

.

Your market might be large enough to sell them.

If you do order the bigger 206 needles, you can put me down for 100 of each of the larger ones and probably a load of other QB members too. I'd probably like to buy a couple of boxes of each and sell them.

Where's that "like" button?
EDIT: Thinking about a box of Singer 12 needles too: I do have one.

I'd go for a box or two of 12x1 size 11 needles. I have a couple of Singer 12 New Family machines, a hand crank portable and a treadle.

Steve, you're really just doing research for your next venture, right?

Looks like you have a load of eager customers ready to help. I can be your Australian distributor

First, the sizes they offered were:
Nm 80 (.8mm) = size 12
Nm 90 (.9mm) = size 14
Nm 100 (1mm) = size 16

It seems from folks on other sites that the size 12 is not too hard to find but the 14's are, so I am leaning that way for the first project.

Now THAT part was easy, HERE is the fun part.... I was considering how to work out a crowd funding program, but with a twist. Again, this is NOT a money making venture.

Since I am Not doing this to make money, but to have my access to needles ensured, my idea is that we could be set up a crowd funding program that a persons "donation" level/reward is equal to the # of boxes that you want to support x $52.80, the result being the needles you "supported" are shipped to you ONCE we hit the "goal" of $5,280 dollars + Tax + Shipping AND after the order is placed... 6 to 8 MONTHS later you get the needles. (MUST be VERY up front about that)

Thoughts?

Sorry, I use a size 11, and was comparing them to a size 80.

I'll go with one box of 12x1 needles in either the 80 or 90 size. I wouldn't have any use for anything larger.

ETA: Where else can I have this much fun for under $70? That lasts for 6-8 months!
