Today I went back to the FW, took the thread cutter off and put the walking foot on with no problem!!! I played a bit and thought it's not going to work cuz the needle hole in the walking foot didn't align exactly with the needle hole in the plate, but I began to sew and it works wonderfully!! So....don't throw the walking foot away...try it again after removing the thread cutter!

Congratulations Randa! Now tell us what you are going to sew with a walking foot on the FW? I am so glad you figured out how to use the thing. I have a Pfaff 1222e with a built in walking foot and my Betty (Davis Vertical Feed) that walks the fabric so I don't need to use a walking foot on the FW, but I am curious as to what you are going to sew using the FW walking foot - and how you like using it?

Miriam,

Places like Sew-Classic sell spoked hand wheels and the hand crank kits. Once installed you use your original bobbin winder. They drive off the wheel just like before.

Do you have any parts left from any of the machines? I'm looking for a rotary oscillator, a thread take-up lever assembly and feed dog screw for my 99K.
I could also use a motor and wiring assembly for it if you had any.
And I need a motor for a 66-18.

OK, that's enough mooching.

I took Rusty apart as far as I have because I had to get the rust out of all the joints and connections. One of those things that if I didn't have to, I wouldn't have.

Joe, most of us, or at least a lot of us on here, get rid of the motors anyway (motorectomy). We turn the 99's and 66's into either treadles or hand cranks like Miriam said.

The cost could be close to the same - replace the motor - buy a hand crank - put it on empty irons...........
How do you HC a 66 with no motor boss? I'm thinking it would have to find some irons. I have 2 redeye - need to go.

Janice, did you see the ad on Craigslist yesterday for a black 301 in a cabinet with a ton of attachments, buttonholers, walking foot, etc.? The guy posted the ad in both English and Spanish and said "make offer." I had a Mystery Block of the Month yesterday. When I got back, I looked in Craigslist and the ad was already gone! Go figure! I hope someone on here got the machine with all the loot!

I don't think you can put a HC on a 66 with no motor boss? I have been lucky all 3 of my 66's have a motor boss!

Nancy

they slope too much to get a HC on square - probably has to have a motor or treadle for no motor boss -

Sounds like the bobbin case is in wrong or has turned...

Nancy,

I currently have three Singer 66 treadles, a Franklin treadle and a Singer 66 in a cabinet. To be laughingly honest I don't have any room for another treadle. :D
Mr. Crinkle does run now, I put him back together last night ... 'er early this morning. Repaired motor sounds hideous, but it runs and he sews. So I'm just not sure what I'm gonna do.

Pull the motor and let him take a turn in one of the treadles. Maybe you just like working on them more than you like sewing on them.

You know I've been wondering about that.

I can do really good on the electric machines. But not so much the treadles.
If I can get the treadle going for a long stitch like a seam or a hem I'm good. But short spaces like piecing things together for a quilt I just can't get the treadles to do what I can do easily with an electric.
And the one feature I'm finding I reallllly realllllyy want on a machine is a reverse or a back tacker. They make life sooo much easier.

Joe
