I also found a Spartan at a garage sale for $5. I gave it to a friend after I got it running perfect. Her granddaughter uses it and thinks she has a perfect machine. The Spartan is a 3/4 size machine but way heavier than the featherweight. It does not have a light and you have to hold down the bobbin winder for it to work. I love those little machines, I'd pick up every one I find!

OK, my excitement is building. I just got off the phone with the guy selling me the 1949 featherweight. He's delivering it tomorrow at 1 pm. Woo Hoo! I just cant wait. I will post a picture just as soon as I can. I hope it's everything I'm expecting it to be.

The Singer spartan was made overseas just for the american market and it was meant to compete against the cheaper Japanese 15's that were flooding the market. It was the lowest introductory machine in the line up just like the White FW was the budget model of the FW's.

Very few Spartans were sold compared to the Singers. If you find one in good condition get it its money in the bank.

Have been in contact with seller. He has agreed to refund full purchase price plus shipping to me and back to him. He will wait for confirmation Shipping #, then when he receives said machine without further damage (:roll: ), and after I leave positive feedback, he will reimburse my monies. I say after he receives machine and I receive monies, then I will leave positive feedback.
How does this usually work for those of you who have had to do it or sell on e-bay?

Okay, If I was feeling better, I would be dancing all over. But with the ear ache, I am just not feeling up to it. But I am glad I got these babies ......and Billy's special surprise.

Come to find out that these machines belonged to her Aunt Mackie that had passed on. Mackie, is the Jeanne Mackie who was one of the prized instructors at Quilt In A Day. Who would of thought. She was glad they were going to a quilter. She said they gave away so much fabric too. Sorry I missed that. So first I will call Mackie. She couldn't find the key so I bought the bent wood case with the machine in it. I was so pleased when I opened it.....It is pristine! Cleaner than the machines I take through the spa.

Then the treadle is a Jones Medium CS Serial #67025. Need cleaning but think Jeanne Jones will be beautiful once been through the spa. I will have to learn some wood working to touch up the cabinet.
