I just got thru going thru the manual and that's exactly what's wrong. Now I need to figure out how to fix it. Do I take out the two small screws where the "finger" is unter the throat plate or do I take off the two screws holding the throat plate down on the base? I will get it figured out. Your Singer 66 is a low shank straight stitch machine. The feet used on it depends on the sub-model. 66-1 was a back clamping machine, and will only take back clamping feet. The rest will take any low shank Singer SS feet, often found in those green cardboard boxes with Singer on the top.

Just take off the shiny metal throat plate (two pretty big screws by the needle) and then you can rotate the bobbin shuttle or whatever it's properly called. Put the throat plate back on and VOILA!!!!
