Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
Here are my two fishermen blocks! One Kathie S. from here in my area, and the other one from Crossstitcher - Trish in W. Virginia!
Nancy I have never done a quilt as go you but like to try on my next quilt. I really like the look of it. Are there instructions somewhere I can find or a book or something on the net. Hand quilting takes me forever to do but that is what my grandma taught so I cont to do it. I think your way is better and faster. To heck with the quilt police anyway they are just snobs.

I haven't heard any feed back about Muv's new thread 'Glenn's Fishy Quilt?
Never mind! I think Muv made a great decision to make a special thread for this! I think Glenn's quilt needs its own thread - I am going to post all my photos there in the morning - I hope!
Thank you Muv! That was actually a great decision!

Skip here is the book my technique comes from! "Reversible Quilts" by Sharon Pederson. All these Quilt As You Go quilts are completely reversible. I have made them with one side totally different than the other side. I will post one when I find the photos. I couldn't do that with this quilt, though, because the quilting was specific for the block.
I haven't heard any feed back about Muv's new thread 'Glenn's Fishy Quilt?' I know Muv meant well by making that site - I will go with whatever you guys want! If you want me to I will post the photos all there? Glenn? Charlee? Miriam? I am ok either way - I think we have discussed the quilt enough on this main site that hopefully everyone who did a block has seen the quilt by now! Let me know what you guys think! I will go with the majority!

~shrug~ Too much to learn...not enough time to learn it all. I wish I had a better answer for you!
I just posted new pics of Liesl in the photo section! She looks so much better.... I'm actually a little proud of this one!
Miriam, this one I had to strip, sand, stain and shellac...there was no easy way out on this one! When we got the machine, it was hanging by one hinge in the cabinet, and not doing that very well. The other hinge was in the drawer. We ended up having to shim the hinges to get the machine to fit decently in the cabinet, otherwise it was raised about 3/8 of an inch.
I have a few places that I need to "fix" on the finish, but was anxious to get my dining room table back, so I'll fix them as they sit instead of while it was still apart.

Jennb.... I love that Domestic and all the goodies you got with her! Wrap an old tshirt around the arm and soak it in sewing machine oil....then walk away for a day or two....I'm anxious to see if the decals are there or not!
Skip, Here is a link to one way http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...e-t170291.html and here is Ditter's string quilt which sounds like it is finished more like yours. http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...lt-t60764.html I have done log cabin wall hangings the second way.
Here are a couple of other links too:
