Hoping for the best - that is one of my fears as my main machine (over 30years old) has electronics, so I figure some day I'll go to turn it on and nothing will happen.

Had a bit of a heart stopper one day. I had wound bobbins and then went to sew and the motor would go but the needle would not. Shut it off and turned it back on = still no go . . . then I realized I left a bobbin on the winder. The machine has a little pin on the bobbin spool that disengages the drive when a bobbin is placed on it. Also realized I had the wrong bobbin in the machine. Wound one and then got distracted and grabbed a slightly different colored one sitting on the table next to the machine and put that one in the case instead of the one I just wound. (Ok so I'm over 50 . . .)

Of course! I didn't clean it one time, and the old technician gave me a baggie back full of lint and told me it was all from my machine...
I checked it again as I was checking her in....still dead.

Hope it's not terminal! I had a convenient diversion when both my machines had auto threader breakdowns last week....to the doctor while we went on vacation. All fixed upon our return. No down time ; )

I feel for you-- I just got my machine back after it did the same thing. All is well!

I honestly don't know which Bernina's are mechanical. But I do know that my wife's 930 has electronic components in it for the voltage transformer and needle up system even though it is mechanical and not computerized. It does have a fuse in it too if I remember right.
    That's why I said that.

Also unless a wire came lose or motor problem occurred I've not had a machine just quit suddenly. Even with a severe thread jam you'll hear the motor try to drive the machine.

can you stick a hand crank on it and keep going? I don't know much about Bernina machines.

I finished the seam by using my hand on it. Don't know...but it is a good idea.
I haven't heard back yet...I have a feeling the owner is at the IQS show here in Chicago.
