Do you know what you're going to make? For really soft comfy quilts I like using polar fleece backing, you guys call it something different I think. I'd offer to help, but I'm sure you have it completely in hand. :-)

As soon as he is back at work will will be okay and if he gets a job in heavy equipment they start at more than double min wage. Catching up on the bills in the first month or two will be the hardest part now, at least I hope.

Your hubby must be stoked to be graduating tomorrow! Well done! :-) (i'm so out of touch, sorry!)
Things don't seem so bad when you know there's an end in sight.

After what she's been through, I'd have been hiding under my bed for the rest of my life! LOL

I know a lot of glaziers, two uncles, my dad, my BIL (now works in the fabrication shop and so does his son now at least for the moment)
I think that is why I have made it this long, he started classed in Sept and is now done. it is so great. the way they work his disability check is in the courts, he is not getting much, and since I don't work it has been more than tough, but there is an end in sight and that is the good part, depending on where he works it will be a week or two or so before his fist paycheck but it will be met with relief.
Good thing I already had a large stash of pretty much anything and everything that I could possibly need, I did the 4 quilts this summer from stuff I already had. and the only fabric that I bought recently was for a costume for a play that Hammy is in. there are pictures in my PDA, she is hilarious.

What we didn't count on was all the people who have been laid off are doing cheap cash jobs, undercutting each other like crazy. That used to be our "play" money, the little jobs where the kids had thrown a ball through a window etc.

People do strange things when they are desperate, it is good to hear that he has a pretty safe spot and he is good at what he does.
The embroidery sold pretty well for me and that is what helped up through, I do have a bit left to do but since most of it is mailed, I can't mail it much later and still expect it to get there. but I have a friend that has some things for craft sales as well so that may end up being a little extra before Christmas, The board has been a great support. And if the little birdie is right there is a few things that might show in the mail for the kids. This is a tough month to be short.

My dad still gets one call from a lady, she is older with a solarium, and he is the only one allowed to work on it, he has been retired for quiet a few years now, but she insists that he come to fix any leaks etc that she may have. He doesn't have the heart to tell her no.

what do you think about wool?
then the circle of pink ribbons is the art quilt she wants me to make.

All the quilts are awesome, the only thing that I would be concerned with is how easily is the wool to clean, if she is having chemo I imagine that what ever she uses will have to be cleaned often.
I know that a good quality polar fleece washes and dries really well and if you need a little more warmth you can put something between, though I usually just use the fleece with nothing in the middle, and it comes in different weight, I find that the 10 oz is pretty warm and cuddly. (or you could put it in the middle and still use the fabric for the outside)

For the quilt, absolutely go with wool. It's probably the one thing that we have cheaper than you guys! LOL I use it a lot for special quilts, like chemo quilts. It's so warm, without being heavy, and it breathes, so if they get hot it's not sweaty. The stuff we get here is quite washable, so it's still a very usable quilt.
