11th Mystery Quilt Train Ride Ready To Start Today
#641
hi all, I've finally got my top finished!! Yay :-) I've hardly been able to get into the sewing room recently for STUFF being stored in there whilst we decorated the other rooms...
Anyway, I began by doing a (3 x 2) blocks top, but the proportions for that were awful, so I wanted to double it to a (3 x 4) blocks size, but I'd run out of the yellow so had to hunt for some more. Found some at the Edinburgh quilt show fortunately. Then when I'd reached that size I had so much left over fabric that I decided to go larger again, and made it up to a (4 x 5) blocks size top lol.
Then I had about 80 bonus HSTs lying about, so rather than just slinging them into the scraps drawer, I made a small border out of those too!
It's ended up approx 53" by 70" .
So here's the end result of all that industry lol.

Coincidentally, when I was going through old photos I found this one, done last year some time. I knew I liked this pattern <vbg>

So once again, a big thank you to Judy for arranging these train rides, I always enjoy them :-))
Cheers, K

siodach - beautiful quilts, and love the border for the larger one.
I have to say that I did not know that this block was a pattern. I had made a friendship star and it was boring, so opensed up the stitches and added the corners to make the background less boring. And now I see from siodach's pastel quilt that I copied something else! I guess I owe apologies to someone, somewhere.

Siodach - I was wondering if I could do something with those bonus triangles!!! Thanks for the inspiration. I have half of my tablecloth sewn together, but we are going to be gone for a couple of weeks, so it will be decorating my display wall (along with my FWS 30's blocks).

There are some very nice quilts/toppers here. Such inspiration! Judy, I don't think you "really" copied someone else's pattern. It seems any of the traditional patterns are just a turn away from being something else. It was a mystery, so take the deserved credit for it!
