I am never this quick....but today, I decided to get my sewing done. At least I have only made part of the units. I will be trimming down tomorrow. I have never trimmed down a rectangle. This is going to be fun. I am having more hope for the fabrics, now that I have more parts of the mystery made.

ok, found the correction in post #267
Your HSTs are to end up measuring 2" square. The light squares will be cut in 2" squares and sewn on to the 2" HSTs, making a unit that measures 2" wide by 3-1/2" long.. I am so so sorry. I read this over twice last night, and I didn't catch the error. Hope all of you will see this mistake.

Mary, I had to unsew about half of my blocks too because I got the wrong angle. Started out fine on the second half but somehow began stitching a different side of the block. My seam ripper got a good workout yesterday with these blocks and work on BH's mystery quilt. Oh well, they got done, finally. At least these blocks are, not BH's quilt. Lots more on that one.

HST = half square triangle. Delfina, you made some of these when you made the square in the "Quilting Bee" forum.

For anyone using the 8 at a time method for HSTs, the starting square is 4-1/2". I cut mine 1/8th inch larger and ended up with perfect 2" squares and didn't have to trim.
Thank you for the tip, Belfrybat, This is the way I am going with my HST.

AddieLou...I would vote for your first combo, since the coral has better contrast to the other fabrics than the paler one in the second set. I think your blocks will look great with the first set!

I spent yesterday fooling around with some leftover string blocks. Today, back to the mystery!

Addie - oops forgot to answer you yesterday -- I vote for the top using the middle for the light, the reddish-pink of the left for the medium and the floral for the dark. I think this would be dramatic and beautiful. It you want a more subtle look, use the bottom fabrics, left to right as light, medium and dark.

Angelia love this scrappy,it is beautiful, but then you know me, I love scrappies. In fact, I took a break from what I was working on yesterday to make some 6" square blocks like yours, been a while since I made one, and a Fons and Porter show the other day reminded me I needed to do one. Great quilt!

Angelia, that's a very pretty scrappy. Alva, I caught my mistake early so I only had about 6 to rip. I also did a lot of ripping on the Bonnie Hunter Mystery. I'm really tired of working on it. It is to busy or something for me. I might just make a quick runner and be done with that one. Roma sorry about your machine. May it rest in peace. lol Good luck with it.
