I cut the spine off my book with an exacto knife, then put the pages into clear pocket sheets that fit into a 3-ring binder. It's great.

I only have 6 yards of the background fabric, so will order 4 to 5 more yards.

I'm almost finished with my second block.

Candi, don't overdo buying the darks, because they won't show all that well on a black background. The only time I have been able to use them is on top of lighter fabrics.

I took my book to Staples and had them take off the spine and put it in a coil thing with a clear plastic cover and a black plastic protector for the back. Well worth the $6.00.

Yesterday, I bought some FQ packs that I think will be perfect for this. I see a lot of people using batiks, but I'm going to use blender type fabrics instead. All of the quilts will be beautiful no matter what fabrics they are made out of!

Most of my fabrics will be batiks, but I just received some mirage charms to use as blenders. I really like the look, too.

No, I wouldn't dream of doing that - just that I have a feeling you wouldn't need many darker colours - you could put your money to better use to get more brighter ones!
