I understood the blocks would be posted on here for free. I just told someone else about the book because she wanted to do a quilt with stars, houses, etc. It is a great book and I am already planning quilts for my kids fo next Christmas.

I would think that posting free blocks is the way to go but like someone else on here I thought the book might be a good reference. Maybe we can find a way to post a pic of the Home Town Christmas Quilt so other people can reference it too. Or is that illegal  Here we are thinking and we don't even know if we are doing a house and star quilt yet  We will just have to be patient and see I guess.

And I am hoping it isn't going to be a Christmas quilt BOM! I have enough Christmas quilts...and working on two right now and hate to only display them at Christmas. Prefer to make something I can use year round

It doesn't look like there are any updates yet :( I think it would be nice to find out what it will be Dec 1st instead of Jan 1st !!! It would be like our Christmas present...the anticipation is stressful!!

I've gone thru all the posts in this thread and this is the counts I came up with for each theme that has been suggested.

STARS 32
HOUSES 56
STARS AND HOUSES 8
SAMPLER 3
BIBLE BLOCKS 1
LOG CABIN 1
CANDY AND ICE CREAM 1
9 PATCH VARIATIONS 1
ANIMALS - FISH AND BIRDS 2
MONTHLY THEMES 5
STATE - TERRITORY BLOCKS 6
ALPHABET 1
MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER 5
JOURNAL 4

I also would like to add these points:

This is a 12 month project where everyone starts with the same free pattern each month and is free to make it anyway he or she wants to and the size of the pattern is to be 12 1/2" x 12 1/2". However, you can resize if you so choose.

You keep all your own blocks.

Once all 12 blocks are posted - last one will be on Dec. 1, 2011 - you put your quilt together anyway you want to. You can add anything you want to to your quilt, or use any embellishments, laces, threads, etc. that you choose.

In other words.....we are all making the same quilt with our own twists!!!

Can't wait to get started on what is decided....
Happy Thanksgiving to all in the USA.
