Great idea, I didn't like the block before but now I do. If you allow me and there is not copy right involved I'll follow your color design!!

You won't be violating any copyrights that I am aware of....each one of us has the right to change a quilt block out at anytime for one that we prefer.....

Exactly! I got on here to get some tips on the basket handle. I cut out the strip that the template had listed for handpiecing and have been trying to pin it on but it seems like there is just too much extra fabric. I haven't done applique either-maybe this wasn't a good one to try for the first time. Your handle looks lovely though and like you didn't have any trouble at all so I will carry on  I am going to cut the machine applique template out and try it that way. Thanks for letting me see it can be done. I went back to look at everyone's pictures and they all look so good...I thought maybe I was the only one having troubles.

I cut the straight one out and hand appliqued. There was definitely too much fabric - but I just cut it off. And I pressed the edges under before I pinned it on. I think it would have been harder by machine to keep it in the right shape.

Just make sure to cut your straight handle piece on the bias, which will give it all the curve it needs!

This is Ms. Smarty Pants here: the basket handles are easy peasy. First of all, you sew 1/4" seam, wrong sides together, along the length of the basket handle; then you center the seam at the back of the handle & press, making sure your seam allowances don't peek out at the sides.

After your entire block is sewn (except for the basket handle) you open up the section (4 or 5 stitches at most) where one end of the handle goes and stick a handle end in there. Then you pin & baste your handle exactly where it needs to go on the block corner (mark it or eyeball it, whichever works for you). Then you open up the few stitches on the other side of your basket for the other end of the handle, which should be way too long ... stick it through the hole that you made, pin/baste, applique stitch (by hand preferably) both edges , close up the holes you just made, flip the block over and cut off the excess handle. Ta da!

Thanks
You can do it by putting in your own numbers in the options category. The, after printing out the block, cut it up and just remember to add your 1/4" for the seams allowances all around the seperate sections. Tha't how I was able to do it. I think I cut it into three sections.
I am on my way out the door but will be back this evening, late so if someone else wasn't able to help more or for more details let me know.
Judy
If you click on seperate units in your options in EQ6, you won't have to cut your sections apart, nor add the 1/4". It will do it for you automatically! Then just print out your template for the handle. I unstitched the areas where my handle would tuck in.

** I should add that I didn't draw the handle in EQ. I left that off my block and then just added my appliqued handle after the block was paper pieced. Did that make sense?
