JeanieG, I wasn't a "teacher" per se, but all three of my children graduated through homeschooling. It can be done. Parents learned it once and just need to stay one day ahead...as my husband always tells people.

Carrie - I was referring mainly to the parents who have little schooling themselves trying to help their children. Many in our area do not have internet service in their homes. The Internet providers are trying to help them with it. The children are given small laptop computers, and the teachers are online trying to teach them. I hear some very sad things. Being I worked for a School District in a poorer section of a nearby town, I can feel for the teachers when they get some of these kids back. Particularly those children with learning problems.

Wow, great job, JeanieG. The more I look, the more I hesitate to begin. I keep thinking if I made the center, then went wild and did some heritage simple design like Barn door or Churn dash, I could complete it quicker. Or even flying geese.

Jeanie...oh I get that...didn't think of it that way. Your blocks are again beautiful!!

My injection did not work so I don't expect to be doing any paper piecing (at least not intricate blocks) any time soon. My next appt with the orthopedic dr is Oct 30th...

Carrie - So sorry about your injections. It sounds like when I had the Injections in my knee for my arthritis! The Cortisone did not work at all. So, she did the gel injections, which are suppose to be great (so they say), but for me they did not work either. I ended up having a Partial Knee Replacement a year and a half ago. What a wonderful surgery that turned out to be! I am in no pain at all, and because I did not have to have the full knee replacement done, I was walking without a walker or cane in about a week.

I am sorry you have to wait a full month to get more information on what can be done! I'll be praying for you!

Thanks all for your suggestions. I am finding the colored pencils idea especially helpful. I managed to cut out all of the pieces for center block tonight. Wow, quite a few! Tomorrow evening I'll start sewing. As far as the grandchildren's schooling goes. I have no say. Their mother chose to do this on-line learning with their school. The school gave them laptops, each one different. with different programs. One of the girls is suppose to be special ed. Oh well. My son, the father, let her decide. Last week mom was threatened by her live in boyfriend and she went into hiding. The girls are living with dad. I'm the only one around during the day. I'm not as worried now that I found out the police took all of his guns and weapons from him. Except the girls just do not want to pay attention. Keep on trying is all I can do;
Thinking about this quilt really perked me up. Nice happy, relaxing evening. Good night all.

Jeanine, sounds like you are doing a lot for them, by giving them love. that might be the most important thing to do right now. Take a deep breath or two and remember to save some for yourself.

Jeanine - Isn't it wonderful to have a hobby such as quilting to distract you from the rest of your life right now. Hopefully, your life will get easier once school opens and you no longer have to help the girls.

Congratulations on getting the center cut out. It does take a long time to piece together!

JeanieG, Yes it is wonderful. and to have such a supporting hubby who encourages me to do what I need to do. I have had to cut out more pieces because I can't find them. I think the cat hid them. I thank you all for your support. I was going crazy trying to get everything done with the girls and they w.ere rebelling. Now I do what I can and then I am just their grandma. It is making a big difference in their attitudes. Happy sewing all
