What adorable baby chicks!! Love them. What kind are they?
The antique quilt is very pretty, too.

Oh Sue, I love your keets. They are darling. Your rooster quilt sounds like it is gonna be a blast to make! That Crazy Quilt looks wonderful quilted! I love the colors in it. Your DF that quilted it made it shine.

Never mind... I looked up 'keets' and found that they are guinea fowl. Such pretty birds when grown! Will you eat them?
Hubby's granny used to have a yard full of them.
I spent the afternoon cutting batting and fitting backing for a stack of tops I had made. Ugh... that's the tedious part of quilting. Most were from my stash of squares from years of cutting scraps. I'm trying to use them up but seem to accumulate more as soon as I do. Does anyone ever really get ahead of their scraps?
Now I need more batting!

The keets will grow to be giants or jumbo size, they eat ticks and bugs, so they have a forever home. They are 'grounded', will never fly away. If anything is wrong outside, they will sound off alerting you there are problems outside. These are very alert birds that 'listen' to you talk (cock their heads and look at you) to them, and they bond with you that way.

I'd love to have some running around our place... only we have so many predators that they wouldn't be safe. Even our chickens which were in a covered enclosure were often invaded and dragged out into the woods and killed.

DH sent me some more jokes today. This was among 'em. The thing is that I grew up hearing my DM sing this one. Well up to the point that he had a bouncing baby boy. I don't think she remembered the rest. Anyway below is the words of the song that I grew up hearing;
I'm My Own Grandpa
Now, many many years ago
When I was twenty three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as could be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon the two were wed
This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
My daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matters
Even though it brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy
My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
That also made him the brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course, was my step-mother
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
I'm my own grandpa
My father's wife then had a son
That kept them on the run
And he became my grandchild
For he was my daughter's son
My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue
Because, she is my wife
She's my grandmother too
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
I'm my own grandpa
Now, if my wife is my grandmother
Then, I am her grandchild
And every time I think of it
It nearly drives me wild
For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw
As the husband of my grandmother
I am my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
I'm my own grandpa

That song is very true in my Mother's family. Funny thing in genealogy, things you find in your ancestor's closets.
I have cleared my sewing table of all roosters to go back to the FM 1930 and the Bible Sampler. As soon as my energy returns. Just reading today. Baked yesterday.

My family had a kinda similar situation. My DGAunt married her niece's DFIL. That meant that her DGNiece & DGNephew became her DGK's. So when her nephew/grandson got married his brides family were so confused! Sometimes he called her Grandma & sometimes he called her Aunt N****. Well a few months after the wedding DGA got very sick. (She had sepsis!) I went to the emergency room to be w/her. I told a security guard that I wanted to see my Aunt & her name is N**** P******. While the security guard was escorting me to the room she asked me if my Aunt was related to (she named the nephew/grandson.) When I said yes she asked how she was related & I just stammered for a minute. Then I said that it is too complicated to tell her right then. I'd explain once I had seen how DGA was doing. An hour later she came back in the room & told us she is now the DMIL of the nephew/grandson & was confused. So we explained it too her & we all had a good laugh which was just what DGA needed right then.

Well Dh cleanled out the part of the storage part of the laundry room. He found the towels that DD wanted me to put initials on. She bought 'em a year ago. I had a plan to use my embroidery machine but couldn't find my large hoop to do it. Well after about 6 months I gave up & bought a new hoop but by that time DH had rearranged the enclosed carport & I couldn't find the towels. Now I know he moved 'em into the laundry/storage room. Anyway he found 'em yesterday. OK I have the hoop & the towels so I got busy. I got all but DFGD's done. She had bought an extra one for some reason & now we know why. DFGD needs one. I had to stop as a thunder storm came through & I didn't want my embroidery machine to be plugged in during that.
There is a step that I want to do on my regular machine but again I need to finish #4DN's quilt first. I am nearly finished. I have one more pass on this edge. Then I have to go around the whole edge. OH I also have the fix the places that I have eyelashes on the back. I think there are about 4 of those. The thing is I am bored w/it & have to push myself back to it. Actually when I get going on it I enjoy doing it. Sigh.
So today's plan is to do laundry, do the embroidery part of DFGD's towel, & work on #4DN's quilt.
