Interesting serger discussion, ladies. I, too, sewed my kids clothes, but used the overcast stitch on my Viking. When I did get a serger, I was disappointed how the stitching held up as well. Loved that Viking machine..and I hardly ever use my serger. Think I need to make a trip to Brady and get it checked out!
Perfect design for the barn board fabric, Carrie! The black binding will frame it nicely. I have some of the red barn board in my stash and am careful when to use it! I shouldn't be as there's more of it at the shop.
On the LA is a long time UFO...88 x 104 quilt made up of stars and 2 1/2" squares. I got stuck on the pantograph...started the second row of stitching too far away and am in the process of ripping that out...almost done...good thing I noticed it about 20" into the row and not when I was finished!
At the sewing machine working on two UFO's. One is upstairs at my little Janome machine. that's a large flying geese pattern to be put in rows for a strippy quilt. The other is the 365 day Challenge quilt started in 2016. Three inch blocks...they can be very time consuming.
I'm off work until a week from Friday...lots of sewing time ahead, but it's a sunny day here and think I will go outside and get some yard work attended to...it's to rain again tomorrow. Been a rainy summer and fall here. Have a good one.

Carrie, what a perfect barn door quilt! Colors are lovely in it.
Quilt Board wished me a Happy Birthday; 77 years old, I thought I would never see since Dad died at 43 and Mom at 63 years old, but surprise I am still going, inch by inch! twisted my left knee and have the brace on it now, slowly its getting better. Diet next few days will be without salt or sugar excess and taking a water pill daily. We had an outing on Wednesday nigh to celebrate with my cousin and her great friend and the restaurant overcharged us, so we will not go there again. Unique place and good food but very poor service...I said no tip, but they charged it anyhow. Sigh.
I have a serger that scarcely been used, five needle Bernina bought in 2005 in Corpus Christi, Texas. A lady threaded it for me, using three needles and told me I did not need the others threaded. Thinking of putting it back in its box again, half blind cannot see it to thread again. It promptly broke the needle thread. Wonder if she made a mistake.
The day is cool and has great promise of being a good day.

Thank you, OK. I am resting and reading today. Knee really hurts, so taking tylenol every four hours. Counting my blessings and smiling.

Happy Birthday, Sue! Another milestone reached. Try ice on that knee. It really brings down the inflamation which relieves the pain. Just a bag of frozen peas will do, if you don't have a gel pack. Try 15-20 minutes every couple of hours or whenever you take your tylenol.

OK--Yes it was the Quilt Show in Cedar Rapids. Mom wants me to find another one for us to go to. Of course the Des Moines one is this weekend and we are both busy with other things....might have to wait until spring to find something close to home. Hope you are able to get some quilting in today.

Happy Birthday QNS - now you are as old as me!!! LOL
I am still busy quilting an older Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt (Easy Street which I finished in 2013). I have about 1/4 of it to do. As I was sewing along today, I felt something was wrong! I pulled it out and saw that I had screwed up my quilting, so am unpicking a small piece. Rats!!!
I am also putting together a Block of the Month Quilt that I did here on the board many years ago.
We have had cloudy weather here for the past two days. Suppose to get warmer for a few days, then drop back down in temps.

Happy Birthday Sue! I do hope your knee feels better real soon. DD has given up on Sugar also. She has silent RA. They have been calling it Fibro but Fibro doesn't show up in the hands. The new Dr says that it is silent RA. She has suffered w/it since she was 25.
I love hearing about everyone's quilts. OK I'm looking forward to seeing the one ya are quilting now.
