You may of guessed that I was interrupted on the last entry that I did. The water was spelled as wat...LOL!

Had a lot in my day, Honchey, I was trying touch base all the way around the hours and minutes.

I have been shopping on the internet again...received my packages from last week's shopping and was very excited about them... love how easy the Lone Texas Star is to do that special way. And oh, others that was on my bucket list jumped into the basket, too! Found the kit on Jenny Beyer former week list with her sixty degree diamond ruler and wonder if it is still available. Her High Tea pattern will be a challenge for me, so that will made it go down the list. Less than thirty blocks to go on FW 1930...may be time to get serious about how to finish it....I am thinking about putting the squares in order that we made them...maybe because I was a librarian for so long, things are better to me, in A B C order.

JanRn, you really need to pat yourself on the back on that last quilt. Pineapple pattern is not an easy one for me to do.

I am singing Old MacDonald had a farm, and on his farm he had chickens....with a chick here and a chick chick there...15 little Red Rhode Island hens....four months before they are old enough to lay an egg. Cannot land any Giant Pekin Duck Hens until the 20th of June. They have to be four months old before they lay eggs, too.

Jan, wow, a very cute quilt you've made there. Is it hanging on your wall? I like the quilting. I had the same idea for a pattern I have in mind. It's nice to see how it looks 'in person.' Yes, I'll be trying that too one of these days.
QNS, I'm thinking about a couple of chicks. I've haven't bought pullets much. We like to bring them up, making them friendly pets. Sometimes I think a pullet that's not quite so friendly might be the way to go though. If my door is open too long, my chickens run into the house. :-)

I was surprised to read that you have 15 RI hens, so they will be laying brown eggs. There is a saying here: Brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh. I bought 2 dozen today. They are delicious.

Oh I love Rhode Island Reds and their eggs are wonderful. I would love to have chickens again but we have so many varmints that we would have to build a fortress to keep our chickens safe from them. We always treated our chickens like pets. We raised chickens and meat rabbits for years when our kids were young and I got stay at home and homeschool them. What a great life that was.

We do not have a 'cat' door at our home because there are too many varmints like possum or raccoon that would come in the house. Yes,, chickens are not bad pets, rather have them friendly and not afraid of us than the leghorn type that runs and flys away from a person. Possums and raccoon visit our poultry lot at night. The duck eggs are my dh favorite egg for breakfast and mine when I cook. Therefore, we sell or share the brown eggs from the RIR hens.

Yes, I have chicken patterns for quilts on my 'bucket' list. I am always looking for fabric to make up the Rooster set. someday, I will. I did make up the nine hens on the nest and named them after my brother's former girl friends...his wife claimed that one. LoL!

Paper work today; maybe I will make a dent in it at least. Quilt patterns often distract me...therefore, the paper work does not progress too well.

My DSis has chickens. Most of her's are RIRs! She sells the eggs to pay for the feed. The kids get any $ that is left over. They have about 50 right now. She did however but 40 Cornish Brocks (I think that is what she said) a couple of weeks ago. They are raising those for meat.

dublb that was interesting about your dogs. I can relate. If one has us do something with or for them, the others want the same.

You girls all talking about your chickens and eggs. I want some, but don't have a chicken coup. I may have to get up with my son about that and see if he would help me on one. He builds so many things. He has a nice chicken coup, and put little painted shutters on it to match his house. lol... I would just like a simple basic one, but protected from critters at night too. We have them too living in east tn.
