We drove by the Danville exit today on our way home from KY...unfortunately the shop had closed for the day.
It would be awesome to have several of us get together for a retreat and work on our blocks.
Didn't get to any quilt shops the past couple of days...next year for the national archery tournament we will be staying for more nights so we have more time to do stuff besides archery! My kids weren't too disappointed about "no quilt shops". LOL They said "you get to go see lots of quilt stuff next week anyways"...kids...

Well somewhere in central Indiana is an Interstate that goes from West to East and Covington is just to the north of it. I saw the city exit and waved, sorry you weren't home. Watch for me tomorrow sometime late in the afternoon. Today DD and I explored Lexington. In downtown, there's a lovely art gallery with several artists having studios in the upper floor. Varied styles, varied mediums, just a joy to look at. Particularly taken with a M McDonald. Lovely water colors and acrylics . Picked up a set of notecards of her watercolor barns. We did a bit of shopping, too. It's been ages since the 2 of us have had a shopping spree. Fun to watch DD spending her money and not mine!!! On our way back to hotel, she's the one that saw the Quilt Shop!! and turned around for me. The shop had just moved into a new location and it was grand opening, so got fabric 20% off as well. I'm making a Christmas wall hanging for my niece and found some fabrics to go with the ones I have already chosen. Yes I had brought my fabrics with me! We had to hustle to get to the wedding! But what fun we had today--wonderful Mother's Day gift from my only DD.

The idea of a retreat got me all excited. So I looked up google maps & says it would be an 18 hour straight drive. My back would never make it that long in a car, It would have been fun though.

Dubib...Texas is such a large state. I'm planning to go to Round Rock just north of Austin in a couple of weeks and considered driving but that was 12 hours and I couldn't do it in one day so I'm flying. I'll have to mail my grandson's quilt because I'm hoping to not have to check any luggage althought that may be less expensive than mailing.
QuiltE.....horray for FWQ binding!!! Nice to get such a work of art finished!
Carrie, Oksewglad...now you know where I live and can find the best LQS/retreat center around. Thanks for thinking of me and waving.

OKSGlad ... what a wonderful Mother's Day Get Away for you and DD this wedding has been! Next year, you'll just have to plan it, even without a wedding!!!!! I'm sure the two of you enjoyed your leisurely gallery visit, sans kiddos! And what a wonderful DD to spot the LQS for you to check out and then to be successful too!! Hope all went well at the wedding ... and that perhaps the two of you will find some other things to explore on the way home today. Travel Safely!!!!
You didn't tell us ... did a quilt travel with you, to gift the bride and groom?
GGal ... Oh yes, I'm excited ... just a tad!! Bet you and others can't tell and can't believe it though!!!!!
