Orca Bay Mystery Quilt-Along
#471
I had to go back and finish step 1 so that I could make progress on step 6. So far I have only finished 4 of the dark stars and 1 of the light. I still need to finish the large string blocks but I am saving that for another day. I have my seam guide set for the 1/4 inch seam and don't want to remove it to work on more string blocks.
I am going to do all the dark blocks first. I cut those squares. Once finished I will go on to the light star blocks.

I'm with you Bookworm, I normally love black but I'm pretty over it right now. I do think that once it goes together it will be awesome but just tired of the black. I keep trying to make mine as scrappy as possible and keep running to the fabric shop for more black material. OK, upward and onward.

There is a yahoo group called Orca Bay Spoilers, in which people post their possible solution to the mystery. I joined the group and saw some really interesting possibilities, and it all looks great! You may want to check out the yahoo group if you are curious enough and don't mind spoiling the mystery for yourself.

I know Bonnie said that the primary color in this quilt is red, but I haven't used much red at all. I guess the next step will include more red, at least I hope! I love red!

Well completed step 4 and fifty of step 5. TaDa! I was relieved to find the wings get easier as you go along. Did a lot of unsewing when I first started, slightly dislexic so sometimes unequal sided triangles give me fits. Really fun, goes faster than I thought it would. Wholehearted thanks for the link, I guess; don't want to look, do want to look, don't want to look.......

I can't believe that I had time over the weekend, being Christmas and all. I'm all caught up and getting pretty excited. I love all of the blacks since I have never used black much in quilts. My colors are blacks, creams, burgendy and seda green. I'm just trying to use up scraps.
