If you look at the 12" block, it looks like the yellow squares didn't hit the seam lines right. Actually they are right on the line...but... the last stripe in the blue stripe fabric is dark blue. It matches up with the more solid dark blue, so your eye reads it as a miss. I don't hate it enough to do it over again, but maybe I'll remember that for next time.
I love the depth that I see in the larger block. I took a cue from DeeCee's Prosperity block, putting stripes and darks where she did. I like that. I first tried that on my smaller block, but got the darks and lights reversed, so it didn't get that look.

Great blocks! It is so neat how each configuration of color gives such a different look and dimension. The look is different on the smaller block, but I like it too. I wouldn't redo the larger block either. Once I saw the last dark stripe as a stripe, my eye didn't read a miss any more. In person it's probably even easier to see the seam line there.

Good morning and happy Sunday to all!
Here is Michael Squared. It's a little bit plain looking, but will make for a nice bright spot in my quilt.

Gosh Lara, are you really posting at 4.30 in the morning or are you in a different time zone to what is coming up above your avatar? Our daylight savings time finished this morning so it is only 10.30 p.m. Sunday evening here instead of 11.30 p.m. and again I am checking the board before I go to bed.
I like the light and clean look of your block. Its restful after working on my more busy one. I have not worked with this much black in a quilt before and am out of my comfort zone..
I'm having trouble uploading the pic. so I hope this has worked.
Edit: It worked but was very slow and painful.

Ever since board maintenance, I have been having a really hard time seeing pictures. I have to load and re-load pages several times to see them. I'm sure your block is gorgeous - I just can't see it yet!
Edited: Now I see it and it *is* beautiful!

Irene, quilts4fun and dr mimi - looking forward to seeing pics from all of you.
Lara - glad to hear you get up at a more reasonable time.
Up until now I had not had any problems with the Board although I had noticed quite a few others were having posting/pic loading issues. I suppose there are glitches to work out when you change over servers.

Hi Lara,,
I love the dimensional look... depth. To me it looks like, when you use up your seam allowance, the quilt block looks like there are 4 wood blocks which push the picture frame back... holding it down on the white sheet of paper. OK, so I know I see things a terms of space and planes. I think it is very great!
nice.... hugs, Jup
