Penny Haren's "Pieced Applique "... 1 block a week begins January 2011

Wow, Deecee. You did a beautiful job on your "Rolling Star." As for mine, you can see I had problems all over the place on this one. My center points don't meet and the whole thing ended up with a crooked, wonky look which assures that it will go along with the rest of my blocks :)

Hi Irene,
Yours is pretty in its very own way! Looking at the pattern, I think you missed getting the squares out on the ends of the star... yours extended out to the edge, or maybe there is supposed to be an applique piece around the edges to make those into boxes? I haven't even started mine yet, so I am guessing.
I love your colors! Your quilt will be a very heart-felt work of art.
hugs, Jup

Oh...DeeCee and Irene your blocks are just beautiful. And Jupiter I love your blazing stars and that nose gay is gorgeous.
I am lagging behind again but shoul have things caught up before the next catch up week.  Life is having a ball with me right now and throwing me all kinds of curve balls.

With just 49 minutes left of this week, I am again just sliding in under the wire. Here are my Rolling Star Blocks.
Again, I am struck that this method is not for 12" blocks. There are just too many acres of covered over fabric. I made this block in the standard quilt block fashion. I made my pinwheel, and attached a sashing border. Then I appliqued the 2.5" squares in the appropriate locations.
All in all, its a lovely block, though probably not my favorite.
Good night hugs,
Jupiter
ps... While looking at this photo I think it may need some decorative stitching around the star points.... jazz it up a bit.
