Pictures of Block of the Month, June 1, 2007 - Honey Bees - The Photos

Norah,
Your block is lovely and it matches your chair nicely also. It is a sweet block, isn't it?
When you do your needle turn do you use any freezer paper to help or is it just you and your fabric and needle? That's tricky! I use the freezer paper to give me a guide. Someday, perhaps, I'll be brave enough to do it without.
Meanwhile,
Love your honey bees!
(Ruth, you must have been writing while I was. We both had the same thought! )

Thank you--I really love the little bees and include 'em on so many of my applique flower projects. The original pattern was in a McCall's issue awhile back. They're not too difficult to make. If you sew long strips of bee-colored fabric into a block and then add seam allowances to the bee body and cut it out in one big piece, it's even easier.
***I apologize for the Bee being upside-down!

That bee pattern is really cute. Gotta do some.
Yvonne, when I needleturn, I trace the outline of the pattern on the front of the fabric, trim and clip the turns, pin it in place, and turn with the needle about 1/2 to 1 inch ahead of where I am sewing, using the pencil line as a guide. It's worked really well for me. Since I tried this, I hate the freezer paper method. It seems too clumsy. Try it. I know you can do it well, as you do everything else.
