Teresa LOVE your fabrics! Moonrise...they look great to me!
|
Everyone's fabric choices have been beautiful. Can't wait to see how they all turn out. Just one more day until the next clue. Yippee!!! :D
|
I am new to this , don't know where to find the clues
|
cooper and moonrise - very pretty!
delphina - i sent you a PM |
Delphina, the 1st posting gives ideas for the fabrics you pick. If you go thru the posts, it kind of helps you decide on your fabrics. Then on Jan. 14th, post #143 is the 1st clue, and Jan. 21st, post #255 is the 2nd clue. Depending on how you have your settings set, those should be or close to the post numbers. Hope this helps.. Paintmejudy will answer any questions you have about fabrics or anything else. Have fun, these are so fun.

I haven't finished the 3rd clue yet, but am looking forward to the 4th.
|
I vote for the green. It is what you like the best. I am using the same light fabric as you
|
Before I post the clue, I want to make a comment on NanaKathy's post -- don't worry about your medium, one of your fabrics will sort of jump out at you and scream PICK ME next week. You will know exactly what will be perfect with your beautiful 4-patch. Ok, off to post the next clue, back in 5 minutes.

Eagerly awaiting the next clue! :)

Week 4
2 Attachment(s)
So, I am going to change things up a bit. I was originally thinking this would end on 2/11 but it will end next week. And you will complete one major part of your quilt this week.
Make 6 of the 6-1/2” blocks as shown on the right side of the top picture below. To do this, you will need 19” of the dark-light-dark strip set labeled as set A . And you will need 23” of the light-dark-light strip set labeled set B. The extra allows you to square up your strip set before cutting and to square off the last segment. For the A set, cut two 2” wide pieces of dark each measuring 19” long. Cut one piece of light measuring 3-1/2” wide and 19” long. Sew 2” wide pieces of dark to each side of the 3-1/2” light. Press to the dark. This strip set will measure 6-1/2” wide. Make sure the width is correct. Slice this set into 12 segments as shown; they will measure 2” wide by 6-1/2”. For the B set, cut two 2” wide pieces of light each measuring 25” long. And one piece of the dark measuring 3-1/2” wide by 25” long. Sew and press as you did for the A set. Cut 6 of these segments that will be 3-1/2” wide by 6-1/2” long. From the light, cut 24 pieces that measure 3-1/2” by 6-1/2”. Use these rectangles with your newly make 6-1/2” blocks and the 4-patch made in week 2, layout the pieces and sew as shown. For the strips with the two 4-patch and the 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” press the seams to the center. Assemble the middle section and press seams to the outside. When sewn together, press the seams toward the middle. You will have six 12-1/2” square blocks. So, we have fabric left over, a few odd ball pieces and lots to make to get to the 36 x 48 size! And it will all come together next week, I promise. Looking forward to seeing your new blocks! |
Great! I have an errand to run and then I will start on the new clue! Love it!!!

Angelia - Thank you doesn't seem enough! A package with a beautiful collection of FQs appeared in my mailbox yesterday. Thank you so much, Angelia, you are too too generous.
|
What beautiful fabric! How sweet, very thoughtful Angelia.

How do I add a quote with my post?

Judy--You are very welcome! Enjoy. :)

Judy - I have a question. You said:
For the A set, cut two 2” wide pieces of dark each measuring 19” long. Cut one piece of light measuring 3-1/2” wide and 19” long. Sew 2” wide pieces of dark to each side of the 3-1/2” light. Press to the dark. This strip set will measure 6-1/2” wide. Make sure the width is correct. Slice this set into 12 segments as shown; they will measure 2” wide by 6-1/2”. When finished with this step, the strip will be 19" long by 6 1/2" wide. How can you cut 12 - 2" wide pieces from 19"? Should it have been 24"? I'm confused. |
Judy
I was trying to figure it out too. |
Judy can you tell me how many more squares I need to make in order for it to be 48" square instead of 36"x48"? Thanks, I appreciate all you help.
|
CORRECTION:
Hmmmm ... I corrected that this morning when I saw the error but evidently didn't save the document before closing it. I wanted the strip set to be 25" long to allow for squaring up the ends. Sorry. |
dd Make 2 more of the blocks you are making today, for a total of 8 blocks made from your light and dark. Next week you will see what you need to do to make a 48" square.
|
Just to let you know, I am only half nuts. LOL When I read over the instructions this morning, I noticed the error in the 19" length, and went into the file to make it 25". Now that I look at it, I see that I changed the length of the B set to 25" -- it originally was 23". Sigh.
|
So they are both 25" right? I know I am a nut and I am cracked. I want to double check.
|
Thanks, Paint Me Judy and Retired Teacher 09 for the compliments on the 4 squares. Just about done with the 2nd clue and then on to the third. I'm with Delphinia wanting to verify the 25" length. Fuss budget that I am!
OK, I think I get it...after rereading the instructions. Set A and Set B should both be cut and the 25" length. Yes? I ask, because I have zero extra of the dark. Gulp! There's a triple berry pie in the club car for anyone needing some sugar! |

Okay...I quilt best looking at pictures! so the glitch
in the instructions didn't slow me down. All six blocks are done, but here are three with the medium fabric peeking through. |

Got some done--will finish tomorrow. I knew my light fabric would likely run short, so I used my backup for the big rectangles. It is a very light yellow, though it seems to show up as white in the pictures.
|
Chasezzz, your fabric choices are beautiful! I can hardly wait to see the finished product. I haven't sewn mine yet, but am very anxious to use the medium prints.

Judy....shouldn't there be only 12 pieces instead of 24 of the light 3 1/2" x 6". I count only 4 pieces in each block and there are 3 blocks. Or, is the extra 12 being used in the next step?
|
BARB the pattern is making 6 blocks, not 3 -- you have six 6.5" center blocks and 24 4-patch
|
I just love how the blocks are looking. I'm still a clue behind but with luck I have Wednesday off and can get caught up. wink wink. Everyone have a great day.

Here is one of my blocks. I will be finishing the rest of them today. :) I didn't realize there would be so much white. I might have chosen a different light color.
